2022!

After living in New York City for over 12 years, Nate (my husband) and I decided to move to Pittsburgh, his hometown.

Some of the reasons why we moved out of New York were the lack of nature and tranquility. I felt it especially after my trip to Italy this past summer. I spent most of the time in my hometown Cornaredo, a cute little town right outside of Milan, and in Puglia, in the south of Italy. My good friend Mari invited me to spend sometime with her there. She just moved into a place that is big as a castle and is just one block away from the beach. Basically a paradise.

When I returned to New York it felt quite traumatic. So I was super committed to find a place in surrounded by trees and nature where we could easily go for a walk. Pittsburgh happened to have that.

Pittsburgh is still new to me. I visited a few times in the past, but we always stayed at Nate’s parents in the suburbs. So I had to do my research on neighborhoods. The plan was to eventually buy a house. We had already started looking this past summer, but couldn’t find anything special.

We moved to Pittsburgh in November and rented a house as a temporary situation so we could go house shopping without rushing.

Well after only a month here we found it!

The perfect home for the two of us. It looks exactly like those houses I used to draw when I was a kid, an A shaped roof, with red bricks and a tree right next to it. The best part, in my opinion, is the location. It’s a very peaceful area of Pittsburgh next to one of the biggest (the biggest?) park in the city.

I’m looking forward for lots of walks in the park, seasonal color changing leaves, occasional conversations with deer and rabbits and maybe we’ll get a dog.

Here’s a song about the joy of living outside of the city.

…you really ought to try it.

Happy New Year to all.
